The Faraday Moonlight Ride will give your a taste of the fun of our longer Cascading Rivers Rides (Sept. 29-30), and it will whet your appetite for enjoying the specific way we put our rides together. This one is excellent for people of all ages and skills.
This 12 mile fun ride follows a gentle stretch of the Clackamas River in August when the moon is high and close to the earth. The ride is along the first part of the Cascading Rivers Scenic Bikeway from Estacada to the lower boat ramp on North Fork Lake. The safety of a night ride is important, so this is a guided ride, mostly along Faraday Road which is closed to traffic. In this case, you will not receive a cue sheet and map. Instead, you will follow a leader. Start time is 10 pm.
There will be enough moonlight on that date for a safe ride, but bring your headlamp. If it gives you other-worldly ideas, so much the better. Costumes are encouraged. In fact, we will be handing out prizes for best costumes, and a free picture for all riders.
Registration at: bikereg.com/37998. Cost is $10.
